Conclusion of the contract for the completion of works on the E59 line

Today, in the Wielkopolska Voivodship Office in Poznań, an agreement was concluded between PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. and TORPOL S.A. for the implementation of the contract under the name: “Reconstruction of track system with accompanying infrastructure on E 59 railway line, section between the border of Dolnośląskie Voivodship and Leszno” under the project: “Construction works on E 59 railway line on the section Wrocław – Poznań, stage IV, section border of Dolnośląskie Voivodship – Czempiń” to be implemented within the EU’s financial instrument – Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – finishing works (stage II).”

Under the contract, TORPOL is to complete the work commenced by previous Contractors, including: installation of over 54 km of tracks along with 67 km of overhead contact line and over 1000 supporting structures, reconstruction of 11 level crossings and 52 civil engineering objects (including 4 railway viaducts, 5 bridges and 36 culverts).

The contract also envisages the modernization of the Bojanowo and Rawicz stations and a Rydzyna signal junction box, with a total of 43 turnouts to be implemented. In addition, the route track No. 2 between Leszno and Bojanów will be rebuilt, track No. 1 on the route Korzeńsko – Rawicz and two route tracks (No. 1 and 2) between Bojanów and Rawicz.

The purpose of the modernization is to adapt the track infrastructure to increase the maximum speed of passenger trains up to 160 km/h and freight trains to 120 km/h, as well as the maximum axle load of up to 221kN. Design documentation, on the other hand, regarding the geometrical layout of tracks and track bed, engineering structures and supporting structures of the overhead contact line, takes into account the possibility of achieving the speed of passenger trains up to 200km/h in the 2nd stage of modernization.

The value of the signed contract is PLN 568 million gross, and the deadline for completing the subject of the contract has been set by mid-December 2020.
