Torpol modernizes railway access to seaports in Szczecin and Świnoujście

Torpol has signed agreements with a total value of PLN 1.44 billion excl. VAT (almost PLN 1.8 billion gross) with PKP PLK and the Ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście. The objective of the project is to improve railway access to seaports.

The first contract envisages the development of design works and the implementation of the construction proceedings at the Szczecin Port Centralny Station for approx. PLN 936 million excl. VAT (PLN 1.2 bi006Clion gross), while the second at Świnoujście station for approx. PLN 508 million (PLN 625 million gross). The deadline for orders is 31 months from the day following the conclusion of the contract. The period of quality guarantee and warranty period was set at 60 months from the date of final acceptance.

The implementation of such large public orders requires appropriate financing and the involvement of appropriate engineering staff and machinery. We are well prepared for this task. In the case of contracts in Szczecin and Świnoujście, advances amounting to a total of 10% of their gross value (approx. PLN 177 million) are granted, facilitating the financing of this task and its efficient implementation. In addition, we have already reserved most of the basic materials and basic subcontractors of specialized works necessary to perform these orders – says Grzegorz Grabowski, president of the Torpol Capital Group.

At the end of the first quarter of 2019, the value of Torpol’s backlog was almost PLN 2 billion. In the second quarter, the Company signed contracts for the implementation of works on the E-59 line on the Rawicz – Leszno section for approx. PLN 0.46 billion excl. VAT (PLN 0.56 billion gross) and for improving access to the port of Gdańsk Port Północny and Gdańsk Zaspa Towarowa jointly for approx. PLN 1.15 billion excl. VAT (PLN 1.42 billion gross). Currently, the value of the portfolio of orders is over PLN 4 billion excl. VAT.
