Torpol Oil & Gas has completed two major projects for Azoty ZAK Group
Torpol Oil & Gas sp. z o.o. has completed the projects “Modernisation of the ammonia condensation hub” and “Replacement of the K-2 and K-3 gas ammonia compressors with electric ones” constituting elements of the New Energy Concept – one of the key investments being implemented at Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn. The total cost of both projects amounted to PLN 36.1 million excl. VAT, and is the largest of Torpol Oil & Gas’ projects to date.
The facilities were constructed at the site of the cooling centre which form a part of the Azoty ZAK Group Ammonia Department. Torpol Oil & Gas Sp. z o. o. carried out both tasks under the EPC formula, i.e. as a full service provider of investment execution, from design through implementation to commissioning. The completed projects are part of a package of seven New Energy Concept investment tasks constituting an alternative to implementing the second phase of the power plant in the Azoty ZAK Group.
As part of the modernisation of the ammonia condensation facility, Torpol Oil & Gas designed and installed a new system based on two screw compressors, a spray-and-evaporator condenser system, a fan cooling tower and a water conditioning station. The scope of the task included construction, installation and assembly works, including modernisation of the control system and the electric power supply system.
As regards the task of replacing K-2 and K-3 gas ammonia compressors with electric ones, Torpol Oil & Gas installed another three screw compressors along with a system of separators and condensate tanks, and executed new installations on the suction and discharge side of the above-mentioned compressors. The necessary works in the field of construction, electrical and Control and Measurement Instruments and Automation were also carried out.
